The History doctoral field was established in 2000 (OMEN no. 4212/20.07.2000. The Doctoral School (DS) of HISTORY has been operating under this name since the academic year 2011-2012 (HS no. 170 of 12.09.2011), organising the doctoral studies in the fundamental field of Humanities and Arts, branch of science History, doctoral field History.

The mission of the Doctoral School of History is to generate and transfer knowledge to society through:

academic training, at the highest level of performance, of the doctoral student with the aim of satisfying the need for intellectual, professional and social development of the student, but also the need for specialized workforce of the society;
to promote excellence in the processes of scientific research, development, innovation and transfer of knowledge to the Romanian society, thus responding to its need for progress.
The strategic objective of the SD of History is to improve the quality of the doctoral studies it manages, by strengthening the doctoral field, but also by supporting and promoting new doctoral fields within it.

The following specific objectives derive from the strategic objective:

To optimise and make more efficient training programmes based on advanced studies;
stimulating, developing research capacity and capabilities, while promoting new research directions;
development of the human resources involved in doctoral studies;
internationalisation and increasing the visibility of the History DS at national and international level;
ensuring a participative, transparent and efficient management style.
